Here's a couple of rushed shots of my revised uniform for the Brightsiders. The figure's been lightened up with green-striped, white gloves, while the expanse of the cloak has been broken up by the iconic green/white stripe. The player's number has been added to the shoulder, and the Brightsiders' logo to the helmet - I just don't have the accuracy to paint little x's that size!

Necro Day 6 - the real post :)

I started poking away at the Brightsiders last night and suddenly realized that they were almost done! I have another couple hours to go with piping, numbering and details, but they are really starting to shape up.

Cleaning Mondays, and Zoats
I did manage to get my 10 man squad of Kasrkin all cleaned up, as well as the Cadian Command HQ boxed set. I also found a bunch of other stuff I forgot I bought from Dave. Some servitors, a couple priests and 11 plastic cadian infantry, already assembled. More importantly, a couple of 40k Zoats. Pure 100% awesome. I really hope the rumours about Zoats being part of the new IG codex are true :)
Fire brigade
So there will probably not be a literal 'fire' theme to them.

I won't be singin' the blues

Or any other music for that matter. I have kicked off the start of my Completion or Castration army by assembling 20 Imperial Guardsmen (Not all of them made the picture). Man, I forgot what a tedious task it was to clean and assemble them. They look great of course, but still.
I have included the Hydra I will be fielding as well. It still needs the tracks done, but I will do them on sprue I think. Plus this is how it was when I got it from Dave.
I have another 20 Guardsmen already assembled and largely painted, plus a Leman Russ. Not sold on the Baneblade as part of my 1500 points, I may save it for a bump up to 2000. In fact, I don't even have the 1500 points worked out yet. I have 10 Kasrkin, so look for them to be added at some point.
My army theme is going to be fire related. They won't have fiery uniforms or anything, but maybe an insignia of some sort. Still working on the backstory, but I will get something up when I flesh it out a bit more.

Hiatus?
Will we come back to it? Will it remain here unfinished until Blogspot takes it down? Who knows!
Actually, it would probably help if we had a concrete goal to work towards. Possibly a game day in a year or so.

Sandino's Snake: Armourer's Notes 4
If you haven't read Sandino's Snakes: Interlude - The Artefacts, scroll down to read that first...
The Men of Iron, constructs built by ancient men, were found in a buried outpost deep in the Perdian Expanse. Isolated and sealed in stasis crates since the end of the Age of Technology, they were completely untouched by the ravages of time. Made of an unknown, ultradense, and virtually indestructible metal, each one has a somewhat incongruous titanium box affixed to the back of its skull. When activated from a Control Box, the machines can be commanded in groups of up to 20, moving as smoothly and fluidly as men, but with twice the power and strength. Each is armed with a heavy, two-handed weapon that glows with a green light when switched on, and spits out bolts of incandescent energy that can melt a man in an instant.
There are, however, several oddities, beyond the oddity of their very existence. The control boxes on their heads seem to be afterthoughts, attached after the Men of Iron were made. Learned Cardenal surmised that the Men of Iron could once think for themselves, but were subsequently refitted for more direct control by their masters. In addition, though their optical apertures are clearly working and allowing them to see, they do not light up as they are clearly designed to do. Learned Cardenal has yet to determine why this is.
